Why Are You Trashing The Ferrari?

If you got given a Ferrari when you were younger and you were told this is the only car you’ll own for the rest of your life – would you take care of it? How often would you change the oil? The tires? How many times per year would you take it to the mechanic to get it checked up?

Probably quite often, right? I mean, it’s a Ferrari.

Now imagine if that Ferrari was actually your body. The only body that you have. Are you taking good care of it? Are you taking any care of it at all?

To make this easy, I set up three main categories of taking care of your body:

  1. Nutrition
  2. Physical activity
  3. Mental health

On a scale of 1 to 10, how much effort are you putting into taking care of your body?

For me I’d say:

  1. Nutrition (6)  – I could eat healthier if I followed the advice my wife gives me, but I’m starting to get there.
  2. Physical activity (4) – I could exercise more, which is something that I’m committed to.
  3. Mental health (7) – I’ve started paying a lot more attention to my sleep. I take time off when I need to and I spend a lot more time with my family which all helps my mental health. But I think I could even bump that up to 8 with a little more effort.

If you abuse your body when you’re younger, your body will give up on you when you’re older.

Recently I met an older gentleman (he’s 87) and he told me he walks 7000 steps every day while most of his friends can’t even get off the couch!

That’s freaking amazing! So, because I want you to live a long life like my friend Jerry, I have a challenge for you gents…

Action Task

The first step to taking the right path is being aware of where you’re at with your health and wellbeing.

So, for the final lesson in this section, I want you to be completely honest and evaluate where you’re at with your nutrition, physical activity, and mental health. Be as brutal as you need to be – now’s the time to face reality and begin to make a change for the better.
